Goŋ Wanhurr

Yo. Marrkupmi. Thank you for taking the time to visit our site.  We truly appreciate your interest.

Gong Wanhurr is an Indigenous-owned and operated not-for-profit organisation based in NE Arnhem Land. We promote Yolngu Homeland empowerment through arts and cultural engagements. Established in December 2012 our focus is on making stronger and more sustainable Homelands. We design community development strategies for inter-generational cultural knowledge transmission.

Our work involves performing arts, visual arts and digital arts. It is inspired by ancestral stories and the deep knowledge held in our sacred sites and carried by the Elders who design and lead our programs. The Homeland studio model grounds the development and delivery of programs and projects like InDigiMatha, Miny’tji immersive Mapping and Larrakitj immersive. The alliance of strategic partners helps deliver Training and Education, Mentorship and Leadership, Production and Employment outcomes to Yolngu communities.

We thank all our partners and sponsors for their invaluable contributions. Our programs support all the deadly community members who bring energy and enthusiasm to their art making, storytelling and performances. Together we are nurturing a sustainable ecosystem for making, exhibiting, and selling digital and physical artworks.

If you feel inspired to learn more and to support our programs and activities, please reach out and drop us an email (admin@gwic.org.au). There are many ways you can help us to grow and sustain our community of Artists, Elders, and Youth.
